A major expansion with the addition of a 1.5-acre storage facility at Winsford was all about enhancing our capacity to refurbish heavy steel containers and better serve our customers by increasing our output.

The new facility has freed up valuable space at our main site in Winsford, Cheshire. This allowed us to focus on refurbishing FELs (front-end loaders), RELs (rear-end loaders), skips, roll-on roll-off (RORO) containers, recycling banks, and stillages. With the extra space, we were able to refurbish over 100 heavy steel units per month—nearly doubling our previous capacity.

Our refurbishment process took place at our 80,000 sq. ft factory, where we carried out wash, shot blasting, spray, fabrication, repair, and modification work, all while adhering to the highest quality and safety standards. This new space helped us speed up the process, with a target to get containers back to clients in less than 14 days after receiving them.

To support this growth, we also added more welders to our team, further strengthening our commitment to the local economy and job creation.

Ben Connett, Area Business Manager at IEG, said, “This investment was a huge milestone for us. Not only will it improve our service to customers, but it also allows us to refurbish more heavy steel containers and meet rising demand. We’ve already received fantastic feedback from our clients, who have seen the immediate benefits.”

Pete Dickson, Commercial Director at IEG, added, “IEG are a leader in 4-wheel metal container refurbishment in the UK, and this expansion ensured we can extend the same high-quality service to our heavy steel containers. We were excited to announce this development, which reflects our commitment to sustainable waste management and supports the move toward a circular economy.”

We’re passionate about refurbishing all types of waste and recycling containers at our Winsford site. We offer both mobile repairs and factory-based services across the UK. Over the last 26 years, we saved our customers an incredible £271 million by refurbishing 1.8 million containers, helping to give old and unwanted bins a second life instead of sending them to scrap.

At Impact Environmental Group, we’re proud to continue providing sustainable, cost-effective solutions for the waste and recycling industry.
