EgbertTaylor has won the Smarter Systems (Efficiency) Award at this year’s NationalRecycling Awards, which took place at London Hilton, Park Lane, on 27 June,beating 10 other companies that had been shortlisted for the coveted category.
Over600 of the recycling sector’s prominent figures came together to celebrate thewaste industry’s achievements, many of which were vying for an illustrious recyclingaward across 21 categories.
Theaward was presented to Egbert Taylor following its partnership with the UK’slargest textile recycling business, Nathan’s Wastesavers, which saw the wastecontainer manufacturer and waste solutions provider develop an innovativelocking system and remote monitoring solution in response to problems withtextile materials theft, which was costing Nathan’s Wastesavers £3,000 per week.
Oncollecting the award, which was presented to Egbert Taylor by English comedianand actress Kerry Godliman, Kevin Docherty, Sales Manager, commented: “TheNational Recycling Awards is a beacon of excellence for our industry and we’redelighted to not only have been recognised on a national level for ourachievements, but also to have beaten some of the nation’s most well-knownnames to the title. We’re incredibly proud of our work with Nathan’sWastesavers and we now look forward to continue building on our success anddeveloping our partnership.”
Now, viaEgbert Taylor’s wireless and sensor technologies, only appointed collectors canaccess the banks. When within a certain proximity of the textile banks, thesensor technology recognises the approved individuals and the doors unlock,allowing the contents to be collected.
Thesensor technology has also enabled collection teams to remotely establish howfull each unit is. If full, Nathan’s Wastesavers will send someone out to emptyit to ensure that users can continue correctly depositing the waste in the bankitself. If not, then they no longer send out trucks on trips to empty thebanks, saving time, resource and the carbon emissions associated withunnecessary empties.
