Green Rewards Drives sustainable nappy change in Wigan
Green Rewards, a sustainability initiative launched by Taylor, is helping Wigan Council’s residents achieve a mindset change when it comes to nappy changes after the container manufacturer awarded the council £1,136 to promote reusable nappies and reduce the council’s level of nappy-related contamination. Green Rewards enables local authorities throughout the UK to accrue points for every Taylor and Bigbelly product purchased. The points are then converted into money, which the Droitwich firm releases to participating councils on the condition that it is used to fund local sustainability projects. The apprentice: a day in the life of Rachel Powell, Credit Controller at Egbert Taylor
I generally start my day at 8.15am, when I report into the Finance Director – who also happens to be my Mom, it really is a joy to work at Egbert Taylor. Everyone’s friendly here, and everybody gets on well. Prior to my current role, I was managing invoices in. Now, as credit controller, I get to see more of the business and understand how it all fits together. For example, I now work closely with the sales team to ensure that our customers are getting what they need from us on time, such as invoices and that we’re receiving…

The gentle giant: A day in the life of … Mark Jenkins, Sales Director at Egbert Taylor
As far as longstanding members of the team go, I’m somewhere towards the top of the Egbert Taylor family tree. I joined the business on 16 June 1997, back when I had a full head of hair (it was curly, too). Egbert Taylor – or Taylor, as it was then – was still a family business, and the Taylor brothers were very much in charge. I wasn’t always in waste, though. I used to be a milkman, working for a private company called Derbys Dairy. I really enjoyed the job, and it was during this time that I developed a…

The shed dweller: A day in the life of… Jamie Roberts, Operations and Technical Manager at Egbert Taylor
I joined the Egbert Taylor family in November 1994 – so quite a while ago. I began working on the shop floor and then spent six years as a welder. When the job for Test and Prototype Engineer came up around the mid 2000s, I couldn’t resist applying. I was heavily into cars and motorbikes back then (still am, in fact), and I think the senior management thought the skills I had developed in rebuilding and refurbishing vehicles would be easily transferable. And they were right. I spent 10 years as a Test and Prototype Engineer before becoming Technical Manager.…
