    Food, glorious food

The Christmas season is upon us. And whilst it represents a time for celebration, family and friendship, it’s often a time of high consumption when it comes to food. Not that long ago the only post-Christmas commitment we, as a society, had, was to use the New Year to get fit and lose what we might have gained during the festivities. However as society becomes more aware of its waste footprint I believe that we all have a responsibility to think about food waste, both in terms of minimising it where possible and ensuring that it is deposited in the…

Egbert Taylor has partnered with Italian eco-friendly container manufacturer Mattiussi Ecologia in a move that is intended to provide UK customers with easier access to Mattiussi’s high quality range of products. Bigbelly trial yields big results in Shipley The waste technology brand responsible for creating what has been referred to as ‘the world’s smartest bin’, Bigbelly, has continued its expansion across West Yorkshire following the successful trial of nine of its smart stations in Shipley in the City of Bradford. The trial, which saw Bigbelly’s 606-litre solar powered compacting units replace 34 100-litre bins, reduced the number of manual collections from 15,300 to only 285 between November 2015 and April 2016. Bigbelly’s inaugural appearance within the City of Bradford Metropolitan District Council has also saved 750 man-hours attributable to conventional manual…
